My neighbour’s property is a mess, what can I
do?
Depending upon whether the property is a private residence or a
rental property, there are various steps that may be taken to
improve the situation.
The Portage la Prairie Planning District is responsible for
enforcing the City of Portage la Prairie ‘Maintenance and
Occupancy By-law’ and the Rural Municipality of Portage la
Prairie ‘Derelict Vehicles’ and ‘Untidy and Unsightly Premises’
By-laws.
We strongly advise discussing any complaints with the property
owner before contacting our office.
Complaints filed with our office are confidential but you must
be willing to leave your name and contact information. To file a
complaint with our office provide the property address and a
clear understanding of the complaint.
